Notpla looking for interns

7 January 2020

Notpla is a London based sustainable packaging startup, using seaweed as an alternative to single-use plastics. Their product Ooho is an edible sachet containing water for marathons, sauces for takeaways or alcohol for festivals. Notpla is looking for one or more interns to help develop:

  • Seaweed extraction to create or enhance sustainability performances of packaging solutions.
  • Optimisation of seaweed hydrocolloid membranes for increasing mechanical strength and reducing permeability to water
  • Optimisation of heat sealability performance of agar-based films (and other natural polysaccharides)

Experience with seaweed/algae hydrocolloids is required. The R&D lab is based in Bethnal Green.
This is an opportunity to collaborate on fast moving projects with designers, engineers, chemists and entrepreneurs sharing the common purpose of making packaging disappear. Notpla can support three month internships up to £800/month.  For more information about the opportunities please email work@notpla.com.
