Process Engineer (BEACON)

Job Description

To promote a flexible workforce, the University will consider applications from individuals seeking full time, part time, job share, or term time only working arrangements.

Owing to the changing situation in relation to COVID-19, we may choose to undertake interviews via video-conference. However, we will be unable to formally offer this position without candidates having successfully undertaken a practical task, and this may require us to delay appointment until such a time when this is possible.

The Institute of Biological Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) is seeking to recruit a Process Engineer, to assist with the running of a pilot scale facility for processing bulk biomass for bioconversion to high-value compounds, and recovery of value-added co-products. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for operation and day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of equipment in the bio-refining facility, which includes large-scale processing equipment such as fermenters, filtration units and centrifuges along with other specialist plant. The successful candidate will be expected to monitor experiments performed in the facility, ensure and maintain equipment is in full working order and participate in designing experimental protocols.

The post is full-time for a fixed term until 31 December 2021. The successful candidate will report to the Bio-refining Technical Manager.
